USB 3.0 vs. USB 2.0 Speed Test at GIGABYTE

TweakTown's USB 3.0 vs. USB 2.0 Speed Test

Earlier this week, TweakTown visited the GIGABYTE headquarters there in Taipei to check out some USB 3.0 versus USB 2.0 performance numbers. GIGABYTE bought a Buffalo branded USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure and hooked it up to its new P55A-UD6 motherboard, which comes complete with USB 3.0 support, powered by a new NEC controller. GIGABYTE installed a Kingston SSD inside the Buffalo enclosure and TweakTown ran some tests. First, they show you standard Windows file copy performance and then they fire up HD Tach and run the numbers comparing the new SuperSpeed USB technology against the now aging USB 2.0.
