Ooyala is an online video platform company, that has raised $42 million, from existing and new investors, to accelerate its global expansion. Most recently that expansion includes Australia. Among the reasons why Ooyala is expanding into Australia is, the 18 million Internet users that also speak English. This is such a benefit because of the number of Internet users that are also potential content creators.





Ooyala was founded by former Google employees:

  • Belsasar Lepe, Co-Founder & Lead Engineer (former Google Systems Engineer),
  • Bismarck Lepe, Co-Founder & President Product Strategy (former Google Senior Product Manager) and
  • Sean Knapp, Co-Founder & President of Technology (developed & launched iGoogle for Google).  
According to a TechCrunch article dated September 1, 2010, Ooyala is hiring for their "newly minted" office in Sydey, Australia.
